What's on in Keswick?

If you're looking for something to do in Keswick, from theatre to festivals our list has something for everyone.

Situated between the Skiddaw Mountains and Derwentwater Lake, Keswick is a wonderfully picturesque Cumbrian town.

Theatre by the Lake is one of Keswick's, and indeed Cumbria's, primary venues. Here you can see plays from a wide variety of genres as well as live music. The theatre also hosts the annual Words by the Water literature festival in March.

If you're looking for something suited to the whole family, The Pencil Museum could be a good bet. Art exhibitions, tuition workshops and family fun days are all regular events at the Museum so you would be hard pushed not to find something to do there.

Festivals are a big part of Keswick tradition, with the annual Keswick Film Festival taking place every year in February. Keswick Film Club also put on several presentations throughout the year.

Another annual festival held in Keswick is the Jazz Festival, where you will be able to enjoy a full weekend of top quality jazz music performed by musicians from all around the world.

If you are an admirer of the fantastic Lake District scenery then Keswick Mountain Festival will definitely appeal to you, particularly if you also enjoy being active. Experienced leaders take groups on walks all across the town, while an impressive list of outdoor personalities and mountaineers hold talks where you can find out much, much more about what they do and maybe even how to do it yourself.

If you can't make the Mountain Festival then Keswick Canoe and Bushcraft also provide an opportunity to get outdoors and active, except they're open all year round.

Keswick Climbing Wall is another great place to practice your outdoor skills, with both a climbing wall and outdoor adventure centre catering for anyone of any ability.
