Drivers in South Cumbria will have several National Highways roadworks to watch out for this week.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A590, from 8pm February 5 to 6am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound at Cross-A-Moor Roundabout. Traffic signals for completion of safety audit actions including installation of signs, road markings and kerbs.

• A590, from 8pm February 16 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Levens to Brettargh Holt Roundabout. Lane closures and carriageway closures with 40mph speed restrictions for pavement renewal.

• A590, from 8pm February 15 to 6am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Barrow to Meathop. Traffic signals and Lane closures for LED upgrade remedials.

• A590, from 9.30am November 24 2023 to 6am April 6 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 34 to 37. Lane closures and slip road closure for tree removal and re-planting.

And a further two roadworks will begin over the next two weeks:

• A590, from 9am March 4 to 3.30pm March 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Ulverston Road. Traffic signals for works

• A590, from 8pm March 10 to 8pm March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Backbarrow to Haverthwaite. Traffic signals and Lane closures for Tree removal and clearance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
