Jason Manford returning to Furness ahead of UK tour

STAND-UP star Jason Manford has announced he will be appearing in Barrow ahead of his latest UK tour.

The household name, among the country's best-loved comedians, performs a work-in-progress tour at The Forum on Saturday October 7.

It will be a warm-up for his 2018 tour, which is untitled at this stage.

Having starred on Live at the Apollo, QI and 8 Out Of Cats, as well as successful theatre stints in The Producers, Sweeney Todd and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, his career has seen him rise to become a true master of observational comedy.

A regular visitor to Cumbria, and The Forum in particular, the Mancunian will be performing a show of brand-new material, which promises to feature a wealth of comedy anecdotes, misunderstandings and audience banter delivered with Jason’s likeable charm and teasingly intelligent wit.

When Manford was 17, he got a job as a glass collector at a local pub. While working there, Manford became interested in comedy after watching the likes of Peter Kay, Eddie Izzard and Johnny Vegas perform at the local comedy club.

He has been a firm favourite with comedy fans of all ages since his first solo stand-up show earned him huge critical acclaim and a nomination for the prestigious Perrier Newcomer Award back in 2005.

As well as a benefit show for Cumbrian flood victims at the end of 2015, his most high-profile visit to the county came last summer when he headlined the Soapbox Stage at Kendal Calling.

Tickets go on sale on Friday April 7, at 10am, from The Forum box office.
